2023 Mazda CX-50 – While we all wait for the new RWD platform, the Japanese automaker is bringing one of the last models that will ride on the current SkyActive platform, which has an FF layout. The new Mazda CX-50 will debut in 2023 and will represent the brand in the compact crossover sector. It will not, however, be a replacement for the CX-5. Both variants will be available the following year.
The reason for this is that the new CX-50 will be significantly larger. With a wheelbase of 110 inches, it will be a more spacious and practical design approach. Furthermore, the new model appears to be much more durable, implying that it may have some off-road capacity in the future. In addition, this
2023 Mazda CX-50 Design
The Mazda CX-50 will be a completely new model in 2023. According to photographs, it will have a significantly more durable design than the company’s current versions. Everything appears to be bigger and badder, with some photographs even revealing sections of the vehicle’s underbody, including skid plates. This obviously demonstrates Mazda’s off-road ambitions for this vehicle. After all, the new vehicle will come standard with all-wheel drive, with additional off-road features available in higher specification levels.
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 will be based on a familiar basis, albeit being a new vehicle. It will have a transversally placed engine and a front-biased all-wheel-drive system, just like the rest of the lineup. The new RWD platform with a longitudinally positioned engine will continue to be the only one available.
Interior
The cabin, like any other Mazda, will be stunning. The 2023 Mazda CX-50 will also have a very simple dashboard design, defined by clean lines and a lack of kitschy frills, as seen in pictures. Nonetheless, we can see a handful of striking design aspects, demonstrating Mazda’s go-anywhere ambitions with this model. On the center stack, we can see the same 8.8-inch infotainment screen, as well as the classic gear shifter.
As previously stated, the new Mazda CX-50 will have a wheelbase of approximately 111 inches, which means it will address the CX-5’s key flaws, which include a lack of space in the second row of seats and a short cargo compartment. We
2023 Mazda CX-50 Engines and Hybrid Powertrain
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 won’t surprise you with its powertrain, at least not when it comes to gasoline types. The base model will come with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine that produces roughly 187 horsepower. The turbo-four version of this engine, with a maximum output of 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, will also be available. It’s also common knowledge that premium fuel gives this engine significantly greater power. The maximum output in this example is 256 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. The familiar gear shifter hints that the Mazda CX-50 will keep the same six-speed automatic transmission as the previous model. All-wheel drive will be standard, as previously stated.
On the other side, electrification will be a significant innovation. According to what we know so far, there will be two hybrid powertrains available, both of which are likely to be borrowed from Toyota. One of them will be the same technology used in the RAV4, which combines a 2.5-liter engine with two electric motors to provide 219 horsepower. The other should be a plug-in hybrid with the same powertrain as the RAV4 Prime, which produces over 300 horsepower. Both vehicles would be equipped with a CVT transmission, and if they are coming from Toyota, we should expect exceptional fuel economy.
2023 Mazda CX-50 Release Date and Price
